CV screening with Claude
This one comes with a caveat that belongs at the top rather than the bottom. Under the EU AI Act, AI systems used to screen or filter job applications fall into the high-risk category, which carries obligations around human oversight, transparency and record-keeping. That does not mean you cannot use Claude here. It means the setup below is deliberately built so that Claude summarises and structures, and a person decides. Automated rejection is out of scope, and should stay out of scope.

From anthropics/skills. Produces the comparison sheet the hiring team actually works from.
The order to do it in
- 01
Write the criteria down first
Before you upload anything. Which requirements are hard, which are preferences, and what evidence counts as meeting each one. Vague criteria produce confident nonsense.
- 02
Put the brief in a project
Put the role brief and criteria in a project so they apply identically to every candidate rather than drifting as you go.
- 03
Ask for extraction, not evaluation
For each CV, what the person has actually done against each criterion, with the wording they used. No score, no ranking.
- 04
Ask for a comparison sheet
In the same shape for everyone. Same columns, same order, so the hiring team compares like with like.
- 05
Forbid inference
Instruct it explicitly to leave a field empty where the CV does not say, rather than inferring. Inference is where bias enters, and an empty cell is a question for the interview.
- 06
Read the sheet and decide yourself
Keep a record of who decided what and on what basis - that record is the oversight obligation, not a formality.
Roughly what it costs
A batch of thirty CVs fits a Pro session comfortably. Volume recruiting is a Max case. Note that document volume, not candidate count, is what consumes the allowance.
